What to Expect
Laying the foundation
Chiropractic care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .
Phase 1: Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care several times a week for 1-2 weeks. As your body responds to care your visits will decrease. Patient progress varies as to your general health and you williness to follow the doctors advice. If you are unwilling to make changes in your life to assist in your healing then you will underminded the success of your treatment.
Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care
During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for a few months, depending on your overall health, the severity of your problem, and the amount of time you have suffered prior to seeking help. I am interested in you getting well. If your condition does not show improvement if the first few weeks then I may not be the health care provider you need or my techniques are not what your body needs. I am more interested in your wellness than you stalying in my practice forever. If what I do dosesn't work then I will be assisting you for another approach. Some of your care may include massage therapy and exercise. In many cases it has been your life style that has brought you into the office seeking help. Be prepaired for some life style changes.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
Once your body has fully healed, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future. You, hopefully, go to the dentist twice a year to prevent degeneration of your teeth and for oral health. I think the spine is at least twice as important as your teeth so I would like to see my patients four times a year to assist in spinal degeneration
